Elderly Swiss cave diver goes missing in southern Greece

The Greek coastguard was looking Tuesday for a Swiss diver who disappeared whilst exploring an underwater cave in the Peloponnese peninsula south of Athens, the merchant marine ministry said cited by AFP.

Divers find final link in underground aquatic cave system

Via Daytona Beach News Journal Online...

The connection of the Leon Sinks and Wakulla Springs cave systems means the total system is 28 miles long, making it the longest underwater cave in North America.

But the divers' work isn't finished. Now they turn their attention to the south, where they suspect the cave system connects to the Gulf of Mexico about 14 miles south of their southernmost point.

Roman cave exploration: Pozzo del Merro

Divers in Italy have begun exploring one of the world's deepest sink holes situated near the city of Rome. The Pozzo del Merro is thought to be the deepest flooded karst cave in the world, reaching depths of at least 400m.
